Emre Doğan

Emre Doğan writes about the stories that cultures tell themselves in order to keep going.

Trained as a software engineer, he came to mythology the way most people do — through a single story that would not leave him alone — and stayed for the pattern underneath. CODEX MYTHOLOGICA, his first book, gathers seventy-six myths from nineteen traditions and retells each one in full.

He reads in several languages, badly, and is grateful daily to the translators and ethnographers whose patient work made a book like this possible for someone who is neither.

He lives in Turkey.
